International Master of Affective Neuroscience

The International Master in Affective Neuroscience is a postgraduate research master on affective disorders and a joint degree of the universities of Maastricht and Florence. The programme is intended for graduates in medicine, psychology or behavioural sciences, and focuses on the latest developments in the field of anxiety, depression and the neuroscience of emotions.

Scientific research
We offer a challenging programme that allows you to step into the frontline of scientific research. The core component of the programme is an individual research project. Under supervision of one of our experienced faculty members you will conduct your own scientific study and publish the results in a peer reviewed journal. You will be able to make your own contribution to the stream of new knowledge about mechanisms of emotions. To help you develop your scientific skills the programme includes workshops and conference-like teaching settings at the Summer Courses and Seminars.

Distance teaching
Its unique feature is distanced teaching; the main part of the curriculum is an individual research project that you will conduct in your own working environment, in your own country. This means that the Master can easily be combined with your current job, since there is no need to move abroad for a long period of time. During the programme you will be supported by e-workshops and keep in touch via the Internet.

International experience
The programme is an international collaboration of scientists from the universities of Maastricht, Florence, Paris Diderot, Tel Aviv, Bristol, Bonn and Imperial College London. With an international faculty of invited speakers and students from all over the world, the Master is truly an international programme. The different cultural backgrounds of the students create an interesting mix of practices and opinions.

Diploma
The Master's diploma is a Master of Science in Affective Neuroscience degree from the Universities of Maastricht and Florence. This Master's degree is accredited in the European Union and many other parts of the world.
